Hey there! We’re Aamir and Arshad, the co-founders of Try X.
This platform was built out of a simple but very real frustration: shopping online feels like a gamble. Whether it’s a pair of jeans, football studs, or that one perfectly priced pair of trousers… you never really know if it’s going to work until it arrives. And by then, it’s often too late.
Try X was born out of a research paper — seriously. While drafting my thesis on how e-commerce is evolving into q-commerce, I dove deep into the operational cracks of the industry. One number kept standing out: losses from returns and reverse logistics.
That’s when it clicked.
Instead of pushing faster deliveries or aggressive selling, what if we started solving the actual problem; the uncertainty?
And so, Try X became the first layer of a broader solution I’m working toward: a platform where discovery and confidence go hand in hand. The try-before-you-buy (TBYB) model felt like the best place to begin.
A while back, I tried to order trousers from an online platform. The sizing chart was a bit… let’s say “experimental.” I picked what I thought was right, only to receive a size that was painfully snug. So, I exchanged it and ballparked the next one up — which fitted like a parachute.
I still have it, untouched, hanging in my closet like a flag of defeat. Every time I see it, it reminds me: There has to be a better way to shop online.
This isn’t just our problem. We kept hearing similar stories from real people.
Arshad once met a father at a car launch event. His 11-year-old son had joined a football training camp and ordered studs online. Wrong size. Delay. Frustration. “We should’ve just gone to the mall,” he said – even though he was clearly hoping not to.
Then there was a mom I met who finds it tough to get around malls. She just wanted a pair of sneakers but dreaded the walking and the trial process. Ordering online helped, but the risk of getting the wrong fit or look made it feel like a gamble.
Even at home, my wife orders jeans from a well-known platform that offers great prices. But the jeans? Always too long. Instead of returning them, she now just cuts and re-stitches the hem herself. Every time.
These stories, funny or frustrating, all had one thing in common: shopping online shouldn’t be this uncertain.
Try X is built on one belief that fashion shopping should feel like discovery, not regret.
Whether it’s apparel, footwear, cosmetics, or fragrances, you should be able to experience a product before deciding if it’s right for you.
And it should happen at your convenience, not the brand’s.
This is not about discounts or urgency. It’s about curation, trust, and letting people try before they commit. Just like we do in-store.
This model isn’t just better for customers, it opens up new possibilities for brands.
With Try X, vendors don’t just get visibility. They get:
It’s a win for brand credibility, without needing to slash prices or pay for performance ads that don’t always convert.
Try X isn’t just about offering a new way to shop, it’s about reshaping what people expect from e-commerce.
We’re building a platform where trust replaces guesswork, where boutique brands don’t need massive budgets to be discovered, and where you, the customer, are finally in control of the experience.
This is just the beginning. The try-before-you-buy model is the first chapter in a larger vision — one where shopping is more thoughtful, more personalized, and simply… smarter.
We’re not racing to scale. We’re here to get it right.
